JAS
Results 06.27.1999 |
I
know, this is a month late. The Japanese Animation Screening
was a mild success. Thank you to all who came, especially
the group from Van Nuys. The screen was large, the sound
was loud, and the audience was enthusiastic. There was a
raffle (videos, a T-shirt, and a cell). The club hopes to
have these events more often.

MEETING
REPORT 04.25.1999 |
Meeting April
24, 1999. The meeting room was changed at the last minute
to LS-8; a petite lecture hall with about 100 cushioned
seats. About 20 people showed up. Continued the Fushigi
Yuugi OVA series. Lost Universe was added at the end. The
last meeting for this semester was announced. It's being
called Japanese Animation Screening and the club is hosting
the event. It will take place in the same room, with a 15
foot movie screen, and surround sound. Best reason to go?
Rurouni Kenshin will be shown.

Cooking
With Sailormoon 04.22.1999 |
A set of Sailormoon
cooking utensils and Hana Yori Dango chopsticks are a great
way to complement the anime fan's kitchen. So, as part of
the club's fundraising, club officer Sheila is auctioning
these items on eBay. If you are interested, please
click here to go directly to the bidding (Item 94402210
with pictures).

Mark
Your Calendars 04.21.1999 |
May 22nd will
be the final meeting for this semester. Since it will be
a special event (three hours, video projected, surround
sound, big room, etc.), the club has agreed with the web
information officer to call it Japanese Animation Screening.
Marketing gimmick? Hardly. This will be the club's opportunity
to show the community what anime is all about in a "major-event"
setting. Rurouni Kenshin, a wonderfully animated with an
exceptional story will highlight the evening.

MEETING
REPORT 04.11.1999 |
Meeting April
10, 1999. Higher than average attendance of about 17 people.
Lost Universe TV Episode 3 and Fushigi Yuugi OVA's were
shown. The Fushigi Yuugi OVA's are a rare treat considering
they're quite new and, currently, few have the tapes. Club
T-shirts were distributed to those who pre-ordered and were
present. A few extras are still available for purchase.

Better
Than Big Screen 04.05.1999 |
A video projector
has become available to the club for the final meeting.
A Dolby Pro Logic system will also complement the video.
The meeting room will be determined in the coming week.
Confirmation of the final meeting will be posted shortly.
BTW, what anime does The Matrix remind you of?

Beyond
Pioneer (FY OVA's) 04.05.199 |
Hope all of you
have noticed that the club has begun showing Fushigi Yuugi
OVA. That should be an eye catcher for most people since
Pioneer has only begun to release the TV series in stores.

New Home 03.21.1999 |
Welcome to Ventura
Anime Club's website, now at Tripod. Please minimize the
pop-up and it will stop bugging you. Many small features

Moving
To A New Place 03.19.1999 |
Bad news. The
club is going to loose our web space on Server101. All of
Server101's current free website members will have to move
out by March 30. The webmaster is looking for a new provider--most
likely Tripod or Angelfire. If you have a suggestion, please
let the webmaster know at webmaster@vanimeclub.server101.com.
The new site will be up by the end of next week.

Meeting March
13, 1999. Good turn out of about fourteen, plus club officers.
The last Bakuretsu Hunter OAV was shown (sad moment, but
now its in the library). Master Mosquiton seems to be the
next popular. Why was it called Jerry's Castle? Club shirts
are still in the final phases of being produced (still accepting
orders). Big props to Al for coming from Los Angeles. Why
did Strawberry Pocky sell so fast?
